Measuring for the perfect curtain length...
Your windows can attract the eyes of so many of your visitors so when it comes to the style of your curtain, to the material, all the way down to the length, each detail matters, so here are just a few pointers when it comes sizing & styling your curtains to perfection…
When designing & decorating the interior of our homes, we often focus on aspects such as; what furniture we’re going to buy, what the colour scheme is going to be, & what fixtures & detailings we’re going to decide on. However, we often forget some of the most important parts of the design process, one of these being the process of choosing how you are going to furnish & style your windows!
Your windows can attract the eyes of so many of your visitors, as they are large, allow for lots of light to enter the home, & they surround the perimeter of your home; so it is important that you are very particular when choosing how you are going to furnish them. From the style of curtain, to the material, all the way down to the length, each detail matters, so here are just a few pointers when it comes sizing & styling your curtains to perfection!
Ready to start? Well then, let’s get measuring…
That’s right, the most important step to the process is figuring out your measurements so you have an idea of what you can work with in terms of sizing. It also makes it easier for you to figure out what curtains you’re going to choose, & how much they are going to cost once you've established how much fabric you will need. So pull out the tape measure & take your measurements from the bottom of the floor, all the way to where your curtain rod will be sitting.
Did you know that if you'd like to make your windows appear higher & larger, you can add just a few centimetres to your measurements?
Once you've gotten your measurements down, it’s time to figure out what sort of style you'd like your curtain length to be, & by that we mean where you'd like the bottom of them to sit.
For example, in a kitchen it would be appropriate to have the bottom of your curtains sitting just at the window sill, as the windows are normally placed a lot higher, & it will ensure you don't damage them with spills & stains. However, in the lounge room or the bedroom, you may want to go with floor-length curtains as they can make the room appear larger & are generally easier to open & close. There are so many more styles out there, so start researching what would best suit your home and lifestyle!
