Selecting the perfect rug
Picking our the perfect rug for your style comes down to personal choice but we have a few things to consider when it comes to size, colours and patterns that might help you.
Picking our the perfect rug for your style comes down to personal choice but we have a few things to consider when it comes to size, colours and patterns that might help you.
Size
When selecting a rug size there are three generic choices, these are 5x8, 8x10, or 9x12. However custom rugs can easily be made to perfectly suit your room and your furniture layout.
Depending if you want only some or all of your furniture to rest on the rug, we suggest leaving at least 18 inches of bare floor exposed around your rug’s edges.
Colours
The colour of your rug is a very important decision as it will set the tone for the entire room.
You will need to consider the tone of your floor and also your furniture. If your room has a lot of colour and patterns, you may want to opt for a neutral rug with one single colour.
If you want your rug to be a focal point in the room, choose a brighter colour that will complement your walls and furniture.
If you have a small room, a light floor will help reflect light and result in the appearance of a larger space. A simple light coloured rug would be a cost effective solution to lightening up your floor.
If you have a lot of solid colours in your room, consider a patterned rug. Pick out colours from your sofa, artwork, drapes or cushions to bring consistency to the room.

Flooring is a big decision and not one to be taken lightly as after all, it is one of the biggest surface areas within the home.
Here are our 4 biggest tips to consider when choosing your floor colouring.
1 - Your room size.
Do you want to make your room feel larger? Opt for a lighter coloured flooring. If you are looking for more of a cosy or intimate space then have a look at darker finishes.
2 - What’s your mood?
Do you want a breezy, light filled, beach vibe? White or light timber finishes will be key here.
Would you like a contemporary feel, have you considered a black option for a sense of drama - a good drama of course!
Maybe you would like a classic theme, a simple dark wood / laminate could be perfect.
3 - Don’t forget your furniture!
If you are not investing in new furniture, it is very important to consider the existing colours you will be working with in your home. Do you have some special artwork you want to compliment? A sofa you just cannot part with? Keep these in mind when shortlisting you floor colouring.
Show us some pictures of your key items so we can help advise you on our complimenting colour options.
4 - It’s all in the lighting
Like your paint colours, your flooring can look different throughout the day. Ask us for some free samples to check how they look at different times of the day, with both natural and artificial light.

Did you know that winter can actually be considered the BEST time to clean your carpets?
It’s that time of the year when we turn inwards for warmth and comfort to see us through the winter months.
Spending more time inside, means our homes become an important source of hospitality and restoration. With your holiday visitors and vacation period at home it is understandable that you will find more spills and stains on rugs and carpets during cold months.
Not forgetting the cold winds bring in the dust, debris, and other pollutants into the house which commonly get accumulated on the carpets and rugs, along with the dampness from wet shoes and muddy accidents which can also add to your problems.
Chat to your local carpet cleaner about maintaining your carpets this winter!
Here are our 4 top tips to keep your carpet clean:
1 - Invest in some good quality floor mats!
Adding mats at your entries will help to absorb soil, moisture and any debris before it gets brought in to the house and on to your carpets. Don’t forget to regularly shake them out to prevent the debris travelling through your home.
2 - Vacuum regularly.
It’s a no brainer to vacuum all year round to maintain clean carpets. Regular cleaning helps to remove the dirt particles before they become embedded in the carpet pile - we reccomend to vacuum at least once a week. Is your vacuum it self good quality and doing it’s job properly?
3 - Spot cleaners.
Make sure you have a good quality spot cleaner in your cupboards to quickly fix up any marks or stains that appear. It is important to treat spills or stains as soon as possible.
4 - Clean your outdoor entry spaces.
Make sure you keep the entry to your home tidy and as clean as possible. This makes it less likely for your family & pets to bring in leaves and dirt.
